BUPA CONTRACT AWARDED TO CLEARSCAPE
Clearscape have been awarded the highly contested contract for the design and development of the new BUPA Ireland website. BUPA Ireland’s objective will be to provide a highly informative, engaging, and easy to use resource for all its members. The site build will employ the highest standards in design and usability and will be developed over a two-month period. ESPION PARTNER FOR LAN COMMUNICATIONS
Systems integrator and professional services company LAN Communications, has choosen Espion as its distribution partner for AEP systems. This follows on the appointment of Espion as the official distributor for Irish-based AEP Systems in Ireland. Espion has in turn nominated LAN Comms as a Gold Reseller. During the summer, Irish Security Distributor Espion gathered together an armoury of Irish based security specialists, of which AEP Systems was a key component. As Colman Morrissey, managing director of Espion explains: ‘Our knowledge of the security marketplace has persuaded us that Irish developers such as AEP can and do compete on a global scale.’ www.espion.ie

IRISH BROADBAND NOW AVAILABLE THROUGHOUT DUBLIN CITY
Irish Broadband (www.irishbroadband.ie), provider of wireless broadband Internet access, now provides broadband coverage throughout Dublin city and has commenced roll out in North Dublin with the launch (26th November 2003) of it’s two latest high sites. These high sites in Leeson Street, Dublin 2 and in Botanic Road, Glasnevin, Dublin 9, bring the number of Irish Broadband sites to 12 in the Dublin area. All business and home Internet users in Dublin areas 1 to 10 can now avail of Irish Broadband service.

VODAFONE IRELAND INVESTS IN EGAIN KNOWLEDGE
EGain Communications has announced that Vodafone has increased its investment in its knowledge management product, eGain Knowledge. Purchased for use at Vodafone’s contact centre, eGain Knowledge will provide a central information repository for all agents, ensuring Vodafone customers receive expert service and support covering handsets, upgrades, tariffs, billing, services, and general enquiries on how to get the most from their mobile phone. eGain Knowledge will provide all agents with intuitive Web-based access to a central knowledge-base, together with structured guidance to that knowledge, enabling them to resolve the vast majority of customer queries first time, and reducing call resolution times. www.eGain.com

CYANTEL TRACKING DEAL WITH VODAFONE GERMANY
Cyantel, the Irish developer of Location-Based Services, has announced that it will deliver their E-Z-Manage Resource Manager to Vodafone Germany to start a service called Vodafone “FleetManagement”. E-Z-Manage Resource Manager is a location-based service that enables companies to locate their workers using information from the mobile phone network. Accessed via a Web interface, E-Z-Manage Resource Manager enables any business to locate, interact and manage their mobile workforce. www.cyantel.com

DUBLIN CITY ENTERPRISE BOARD INVESTMENT IN NOVARA IT
Continuing its work in supporting entrepreneurial companies Dublin City Enterprise Board announced today an investment of €50,000 in Internet services provider, Novara IT, www.novara.ie. Novara, trading as Register.ie / Host.ie, is currently ranked Ireland’s fifth largest provider of domain registration and web hosting services according to statistics from Whois Ireland. The funding will be used to underpin Novara’s growth in 2004. The company expect to expand the numbers employed by the company considerably over the coming 24 months.

SIEMENS BUSINESS SERVICES DEAL WITH ALLIED IRISH BANK
Siemens Business Services has signed a multi-year contract with Allied Irish Bank to provide infrastructure maintenance and associated services to the Bank on a group wide basis. The multi-vendor support services cover client/server and network communications equipment for all branch and head office locations across the Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland and Great Britain. This agreement follows the Bank’s decision to solicit proposals in line with the consolidation and integration of historically dispersed IT operations and the requirement to rationalise suppliers and leverage strategic relationships. The contract will deliver significant cost reductions and allow AIB to establish stringent service levels which fit its business purpose, while also delivering the appropriate metrics to manage them. www.sbs.ie/news

The IIA is all about individuals coming together to educate each other about best practices, do business with each other, and form a voice so that we can influence how the Internet develops and is regulated in Ireland in the future.
Three key areas of focus for next year will be:

What Ireland must do to become a Broadband Society
· Building E-Compliant websites and online businesses
How to ensure that your business is trading legally online
· Championing the User Experience
Improving the Web’s effectiveness as an informational and transactional tool
We feel that by addressing these issues that we will deliver substantial educational benefit to our members, and also influence how some of the inhibitors of growth in the sector are tackled. The IIA are committed to running a significant number of regional events in 2004 on these issues.
