New Associate Membership
The Irish Internet Association has announced that it is to extend its membership to industry professionals with an associate membership package.
This is aimed at freelance designers, developers, consultants and lecturers working in Internet related fields.
Speaking at the announcement the IIA CEO Irene Gahan comments, “Professionals working within the internet industry in Ireland are among the most skilled in the world. Evidence of this is found in the recent location of many of the world’s leading internet technology companies in Ireland. The Irish Internet Association was founded in 1997 as a professional body for those conducting business via the Internet and supplying Internet technology products and services. This new associate membership recognises that individual professionals working within the sector whether as consultants, contractors or as employees should be able to avail of membership to a professional body that will represent their interests and assist them in their own personal advancement within their chosen careers”.
The IIA recognises that the growing diversity of disciplines within the sector require representation regardless of membership status. The IIA has over 350 business memberships comprising of SME and corporate companies as well has government and public sector organisations. These memberships entitle employees to the benefits of being an IIA member including reduced rates for seminars, events and access to position and white papers as well as an extranet of resources.
Associate membership will entitle professionals to be listed in the IIA directory and display the associate logo as well as create a personal biography with contact details and entitle them to special discounts on events and seminars. The cost for Associate membership is 95EURO per year.

DC Studios to create 50 high quality jobs at the Digital Hub, Dublin
Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment Micheál Martin TD announced that DC Studios, a Canada based developer of video games for consoles, PCs and mobile phones, is to establish a Development Studio in the Digital Hub in Dublin, with the support of IDA Ireland. This will be Ireland’s first overseas investment in console software development, creating 50 high quality jobs over the next three years, mostly for experienced graduates including software programmers, artists, designers and producers.
The decision by DC Studios to locate in Dublin is a direct response to a substantial growth in its business, with many of its customers based in Europe. Mark Greenshields, CEO of DC Studios, sees Ireland, with its experienced pool of software skills and supportive business environment, as the ideal base to service this growing demand for the company’s services. As well as providing additional capacity, the Dublin facility will soon become a full turnkey development centre employing designers, producers, artists and programmers for developing complete games from conception to production.
